Meet The Trainer

About Barbara (aka Bairbre): Barbara has always had a love for animals, but dogs in particular. She became a dog enthusiast 7 years ago after acquiring her first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel -- Abbey. When Abbey started to have behavior problems, Barbara began looking for solutions, and luckily found Animal Behavior College (ABC). Now a graduate of ABC, as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer, Barbara has started her own dog training company.

She is certified by Animal Behavior College, a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, as well as a member of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club as a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel breeder, trainer, and enthusiast.

Training Philosophy

Bairbre Click "N" Paws' vision and goals are to provide knowledge and coaching to clients to help them understand canine behaviors and teach dog's appropriate behavior in many different environments and situations. We compassionately teach positive reinforcement methods by means of Clicker Training, which educates dogs by humane and effective associations. Providing leadership skills are an important part of canine education in order for the client to be respected by their companion and develop a lasting bond with them.

I am qualified to support you in accomplishing the following goals through Positive Reinforcement Training.

1. Behavior Problem Prevention.

Teaching you how to prevent problems before they occur will give your dog a proper start to build a bonding relationship with you. Housetraining methods, as well as how to curtail chewing and prevent unruly behavior in your home are just a few of the behaviors we can prevent.

2. Having your dog listen is essential.

My positive reinforcement training methods will teach you how to communicate effectively and humanely with your pet. Teaching your dog basic cues (sit, stay, down, come, loose leash walking and heel etc) is of critical importance, to his/her future safety.

3. Solving behavior problems.

The number one cause of relinquishment is behavior problems that can't be tolerated or solved. I will assist with reasonable effective solutions to work towards a means to solve existing behavior problems. I can help you deal with nipping, jumping, chewing, digging, barking, housetraining, unruly behavior, and more, by use of positively rewarding, without having to resort to intimidation to establish control.

4. Establish a Foundation for Listening.

Once your dog has learned the basic commands it is vital that he/she learns to listen when there are distractions (cars, dogs, cats, children etc.) nearby. Learning to listen to you around distractions could save the life of your dog.
